John U. Bacon is an American journalist, author, and sports commentator. A native of Ann Arbor, he went on to earn a degree from the University of Michigan. He began his career at The Ann Arbor News, later becoming a sports feature writer for The Detroit News, where he covered the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano.
Now a freelance writer, heās contributed to The New York Times, Time, and ESPN The Magazine.
