In January 2010, John Stumpf was named Chairman of Wells Fargo & Company. He became President in August 2005 after being designated Chief Executive Officer in June 2007. He was elected to the Wells Fargo Board of Directors in June 2006 and became Chief Executive Officer in June 2007.
He joined the erstwhile Norwest Corporation (forerunner of Wells Fargo) in 1982 in the loan administration department and later became senior vice president and chief credit officer for Norwest Bank, N.A., Minneapolis, after 32 years with the business.
