The Quietman, John Ruiz is a former professional boxer from the United States. Ruiz is a two-time WBA heavyweight champion and the first Latino heavyweight champion. At a press conference on April 26, 2010, Ruiz formally declared his retirement from the sport after an 18-year professional career.
Ruiz's final fight was a championship battle against David Haye, the then-WBA heavyweight champion, in which he was lost by TKO in round 9.
