He previously worked as Chief Executive Officer of Plains Resources Incorporated, the publicly listed pioneer to Vulcan Energy, as well as senior vice president and chief operating officer. He was chairman and chief operating officer of Plains Exploration and Production Company from December 2002 to March 2004. He is also a chairman of Plains All American Pipeline LP.
