John Pepper Biography




John E. Pepper, Jr. is an American businessman who most recently served as Chairman of the Board at Disney. Pepper attended Yale University and graduated in 1960. Pepper worked for Procter & Gamble for 38 years working in various roles. From 1995 to 1999, he served as the CEO and Chairman of the company. He was President from 1986 to 1995 as well as Director from 1984 to 2003. Pepper also served on the board of Boston Scientific Corp. from 2003 to 2010. He is a Co-Chairman of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.

Pepper started with Proctor & Gamble in 1963, and by 1974, he was named general manager of Procter & Gamble Italia. Six years later, he assumed the role of group vice president. After serving on the board of directors and as President and CEO, Pepper retired from the company in 2002.

He released a a book entitled Russian Tide in 2012 that chronicles the development of Procter & Gamble in Russia in the 1990s, in which he was heavily involved.
