John McEuen is a founder partner of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, which was founded in August of 1966. Jeff Hanna, John, and Jimmie Fadden, have been starting to play together for forty-six years. The NGDB has performed over 7,500 shows and travelled over three million miles to do so. They've appeared on over two hundred different tv programs.

John has performed over 2,500 solo displays. One of his specific prides has been conducting on the Grand Ole Opry - numerous times with NGDB, but then also solo and as a guest with many other Opry participant acts, and he managed to bring Steve Martin there in 2010 for The Crow's Opry opening.
