The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials' Executive Director is John Horsley (AASHTO). He started working for the United States Department of Transportation from 1993 to 1999. As Assistant Deputy Secretary, he proposed intermodal policies, quality of life projects, and served as a point of contact to local and state governments, the US Congress, and transportation stakeholders.
Horsley, a resident of the Pacific Northwest, was appointed to 5 terms as County Commissioner in Kitsap County, a society west of Seattle. He is a Harvard degree holder, a Combat veteran, a former Peace Corps volunteer as well as a Congressional aide, and a grad of Georgetown University. .
