John Hodge Biography

Doctor John W. Hodge is the Chairman of the Urban Learning and Leadership Center (ULLC), a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving student achievement and closing the achievement gap. He has worked as a reading teacher, English professor, AVID professor, Vice Principal, and Assistant Professor of the Eastern Division of the AVID Center. He was the Head of An Achievable Dream Academy, an inner-city school that evaluated many of the interventions being used by Urban Learning and Leadership Center. Achievable Dream Academy is a strong, low-income school that has won numerous national awards. Prior to entering the field of education, Dr. Hodge differentiated himself in the facility of our country while serving with the United States Army's 7th Infantry Division. He is well-known for being a master teacher as well as a staff developer. His career has been described by his ability to assist students and teachers in overcoming adversity and meeting their goals. He has been a visiting professor at Christopher Newport University, Hampton University, North Carolina A&T State University, as well as George Washington University, as well as an inspirational speaker across the U. S. He is a trained promoter for the (SREB) Leadership Initiative Modules "Leading Assessment and Instruction" and "Creating a High Performance Learning Culture," as well as a trained appraiser and promoter for the "Forming the 21st Century Principal" programme of the National Organization of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). Hodge also speaks at primary school, middle, & high school student gatherings on a regular basis. His lectures are frequently "the spark" that schools need to match state/federal accreditation requirements and enforce constant advancement techniques.
