He has appeared in television documentaries on PBS, the History Channel, C-SPAN Book TV, and the Learning Channel as a leading historian on the American Revolution and founding era. He has written 13 books, all but two of which are about the American Revolution and its rulers. Ferling earned a bachelor's degree in history from Sam Houston State University as well as a master's degree in history from Baylor University.
