Joe Vitt Biography

Vitt played linebacker for Towson State (now Towson University) near Baltimore for four seasons despite being undersized at 5'10 and 190 pounds. In 1979, he made his NFL debut with the Baltimore Colts as their strength coach. When Chuck Knox took over as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks in 1983, Vitt was the team's strength coach. Vitt was swiftly elevated to the position of defensive backs coach. Vitt followed Knox to the Los Angeles Rams, where he worked on his staff alongside Mike Martz from 1992 to 1994.
