Artist Joan Osborne was conceived on July 8, 1962, in the town of Anchorage Kentucky yet it wasn't until moving to New York City in the mid '90s (to learn at NYU's film school) that she started to pay attention to a singing profession in the wake of performing Billie Holiday's exemplary God Bless the Child at a nearby bar's open-mike night.
Notwithstanding Holiday Osborne looked to such incredible vocalists as Etta James and Ray Charles as good examples as the cutting-edge artist chose not to take into account significant record organizations and shaped her own name Womanly Hips which brought about such discharges as 1992's in-show Soul Show among others.
