Jonathan Wayne "JJ" Lawhorn is an American country music singer-songwriter born in Hanover County, Virginia. In 2010, Lawhorn was discovered online by producer Jeremy Stover. He was signed to EMI Music Publishing within a year. At age 17, He also signed a recording contract with Average Joes Entertainment, a record label owned by Colt Ford, in June 2011. Lawhorn's debut album, Original Good Ol' Boy, produced by Stover was released on July 16, 2013 by Average Joes Ent. Lawhorn wrote and co-wrote all thirteen tracks on the album. Matt Bjorke of Roughstock calling Lawhorn "an artist well worth seeking out” and gave the album four stars out of five. In its first week of release, the album sold 4,000 copies and debuted at number 20 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and number 91 on the Billboard 200. On February 17, 2014, the single "Good Ol' Boys Like Us" was released on country radio and it received a favorable review from Taste of Country, which called it "a great lyric and a strong vocal performance.”
