Jim Mellado Biography

Jim Mellado is the chairman of The Willow Creek Association, and he is responsible for supplying overall leadership to volunteers and staff to assist WCA to achieve its goal of maximizing the life-transformation efficiency of various churches. He has been a member of the WCA since 1992, and he has worked as its chairman since 1993. The WCA has built a reputation for improvement and innovation in representing churches and their representatives over the last eighteen years. During that time, the WCA has motivated and instructed over one million church officials, as well as generated and dispersed millions of church reserves to tens of thousands of churches from over ninety denominations. WCA leadership instructional events are all now hosted in more than 250 cities in 50 countries annually, with over 10,000 Member Churches in 35 countries. Jim earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, as well as a master's degree in business administration from Harvard Business School in 1991. He wrote a case study on Willow Creek Community Church while being a Harvard student. In 1988, he decided to compete in the Olympic Games (decathlon) for his country of birth, El Salvador, in Seoul, South Korea.
