Jim Dent, a professional golfer, was born on May 9, 1939. Dent was born in Augusta, Georgia, the location of the Master's Tournament, despite the fact that as an African American, he would not have been permitted to play on the Augusta National course at the time, save as a caddy. As a kid, he caddied at Augusta National and Augusta Country Club. Dent began his professional career in 1966. He won the Florida PGA Championship three times throughout his normal (under 50) career. He is most known for his accomplishments on the Senior PGA Tour (now known as the Champions Tour), where he won 12 events between 1989 and 1998.
