Jim Barton Biography

Jim was President and CEO of Network Age Software, Inc., a firm he started to produce software tools for controlled electronic distribution, prior to co-founding TiVo. The TiVo Personal TV Service is built on the principles he pioneered at Network Age. Jim began his executive career at SGI as Vice President and General Manager of the Systems Software Division, and he went on to assume senior positions in the company's operational management and R&D divisions. He became the chief system software architect of the Full-Service Network in Orlando, Florida, while at SGI, where he worked on the development of the first large-scale interactive television system to go live. He was also the Chief Technology Officer of Interactive Digital Solutions Company, a Silicon Graphics and AT&T Network Systems joint venture that developed interactive television systems.
