Jill Dumain's biography: Jill Dumain studied Textiles and Clothing at the University of California, Davis. Textile science, marketing, and production courses were among her studies. She began working in Patagonia's Fabric Laboratory after graduation, testing and analysing the technical fabrics in the line. She moved to Fabric Development two years later to work on the development of Patagonia's natural fibre fabrics. This position resulted in an environmental emphasis for her job, particularly the organic cotton project, which she has led since 1994. From 1997 to 2003, she was the Director of Fabric Development, where she was in charge of all material development for the company. In 2003, she was elevated to Director of Environmental Analysis, where she oversaw the creation of the Common Threads Garment Recycling Program and The Footprint Chronicles website. Jill was elected Chair of the Board of the Organic Exchange in September 2006 as well as served until 2009, as well as Chair of the Outdoor Industry Association's Sustainability Working Group from 2009 to 2011. With her current collaborative projects, her position has evolved into Director of Environmental Strategy. She has travelled extensively throughout Asia, Europe, and the United States during her time at Patagonia, visiting fabric manufacturers and interacting with other companies committed to environmental responsibility.
