Jessica Sanchez’s voice has been compared to music legends Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. She was a runner-up on the 11th season of American Idol. She was born and raised in Chula Vista, California and is the daughter to a Filipina mother and Mexican-American navy veteran father. At age 2, she began singing and by age 10, she was already competing in talent shows like America's Got Talent and Showtime at the Apollo and also at national singing competitions. Sanchez auditioned for American Idol at age 16 and was the runner-up while Phillip Phillips emerged as the winner. The judges praised Sanchez’s singing during her season of Idols for her rendition and performances of Beyonce's Sweet Dreams, Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You (written by Dolly Parton) and Billy Joel's Everybody Has a Dream. Sanchez released her debut album titled Me, You & the Music featuring guest appearances from Prince Royce and Ne-Yo in 2013. She was also featured on a re-recording of Hourglass by Zedd and starred on the popular TV series Glee in that same year. Sanchez dropped the single This Love in 2015 and released the Christmas with Jessica EP which was her first Christmas album.
