When Jeremy McMillan was in high school in Phoenix, his mother worked full-time and often returned home too late to cook dinner. As a result, he frequently cooked for himself and his younger brother. But as a teenager, he was more interested in football than cookery.
He was a tight end for his high school squad and won a football scholarship at Western Illinois University in Macomb during his senior year. He then transferred to Central Washington University to pursue an economics degree.
