Jennifer rose to prominence in the 1980s after joining The Comic Strip after graduating from the Central School of Speech & Drama. She developed and acted in their namesake sketch program, French & Saunders, with her comedic partner Dawn French, for which she and French earned a BAFTA fellowship in 2009.
Through the early to mid-1990s, she earned international fame for her role as Edina Monsoon in the comedy Absolutely Fabulous, which she wrote and starred in.
