Jennifer Sampson Biography

Jennifer Sampson is the CEO and President of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, the region's largest non-profit sponsor of programs to enhance education, income, and health in Dallas, Collin, Rockwall, and southern Denton counties. Jennifer comes to her position with a diverse history in business, charity, and community participation. Jennifer's strategy for United Way involves integrating expanding fundraising areas, including more strategic uses of technology, and increasing regional collaborative relationships. Jennifer has established community trust in the United Way's purpose and impact goals since her appointment as CEO and president in September 2011, and she has produced unparalleled resource development outcomes. These outcomes were attained via revenue diversification, new and more innovative investment methods and tactics, and larger kinds of collective community impact than the United Way has previously explored. She thinks that by working together, the donor community will gain organizational capacity, strategic value, and efficiency. “What is required to assist solve community challenges today is a catalytic approach to philanthropy,” she adds, adding that “United Way of Metropolitan Dallas is committed on establishing this new approach to social change through the United 2020 community goals.” She joined United Way in 2001 as senior vice president and chief financial officer and rose through the ranks to become chief operations officer in 2004. She reengineered the finance and operational activities as CFO to strengthen financial management, extend technological systems, and improve internal controls. Jennifer began her professional career in 1991 with Arthur Andersen. She spent ten years in the Dallas audit practice, where she worked with a wide range of corporate customers from diverse sectors. Jennifer holds a BBA from Baylor University and is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Texas. She has completed executive education classes at Harvard Business School and the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Jennifer is a dedicated community advocate who has worked in leadership capacities for a variety of organizations in the North Texas community throughout her career. Jennifer founded the United Way Women of Tocqueville Society and now serves on the United Way Worldwide National Professional Council, Fortune 500 Task Force, and Select Cities. She is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Dallas, and from 2001 to 2008, she served on the Cattle Baron's Ball Committee. She has been a member of the Crystal Charity Ball Committee since 2009, and she has also served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Baylor University Alumni Association. She is a member of the International Women's Forum, the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank Board's Business and Community Advisory Council, and the Dallas Assembly. She was named the Women's Council of Dallas County's Woman of the Year in 2012, and she was one of the Baylor Distinguished Alumni Award's youngest honorees in 2013.
