The FDA's Director of the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) is Jeffrey Shuren, MD, JD. He was formerly the Acting Center Director. From 1998 until 2009, Dr. Shuren worked for the FDA in a variety of policy and planning roles, including Acting Deputy Commissioner for Policy, Planning, and Budget, Associate Commissioner for Policy and Planning, and Special Counsel to the Principal Deputy Commissioner. Dr. Shuren is a board-certified neurology specialist who formerly worked as an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Cincinnati.
