Dr. Jeffrey Leiden has been Managing Director of Clarus Ventures since 2007. Dr. Leiden joined Clarus Ventures in November 1 2006 as a Partner. Dr. Leiden has more than 20 years of experience in the biomedical and pharmaceutical sectors. He served as President and Chief Operating Officer at Abbott Laboratories Pharmaceutical Products Group in 2001. Dr. Leiden served as an Executive Vice President Pharmaceuticals and Chief Scientific Officer from 2000 to 2001 at Abbott Laboratories. During his academic career he was involved in starting several biotechnology companies including Vical and Cardiogene Therapeutics Inc. From 1987 to 2000 Dr. Leiden served several academic appointments including the Chief of Cardiology and Director of the Cardiovascular Research Institute at the University of Chicago at University of Chicago School of Medicine. From July 1999 to July 2000 he served as an Elkan R. Blout Professor of Biological Sciences Harvard School of Public Health and Professor of Medicine Harvard Medical School. From 1992 to July 1999 Dr. Leiden was the Frederick H. Rawson Professor of Medicine and Pathology.
