Jeffrey Blade Biography

Mr. Jeffrey A. Blade, commonly known as Jeff, has served as Vera Bradley Designs Inc.'s Chief Financial & Administrative Officer and Executive Vice President since May 2, 2010 and as its Secretary since June 2010. Mr. Blade is the Vera Bradley Designs Inc.'s Principal Accounting Officer. Until January 2013, Mr. Blade was the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, Principal Accounting Officer, Executive Vice President, and Secretary of Vera Bradley, Inc. From September 8, 2009 until January 2010, he was the Chief Financial Officer of Central Garden & Pet Co., and before that, he was the company's Secretary and Executive Vice President. Mr. Blade was Central Garden & Pet Co.'s Senior Vice President and Principal Accounting Officer. From February 27, 2004 through July 2008, Mr. Blade was the Chief Financial Officer of Steak N Shake Co. (also known as Biglari Holdings Inc.) and its subsidiary Steak n Shake Operations Inc. Mr. Blade was the Chief Financial Officer of Steak n Shake Co. and Steak n Shake Operations Inc. From 2007 to July 2008, he was Steak N Shake Co.'s Chief Administrative Officer, and from 2007, he has been its Executive Vice President. From March to July 2008, he served as Interim President of Steak n Shake Co. Since February 27, 2004, Mr. Blade has worked as Senior Vice President of Steak n Shake Co. and its subsidiary Steak n Shake Operations Inc. Mr. Blade was the Vice President of Finance for Cott Corporation's US operations from 1999 until 2004. From 1999 to 2004, he was Vice President of Finance at Cott Beverages USA in Tampa, Florida, where he managed the restructuring of the financial function, which directly contributed to significant sales and profit growth during the previous four years. From 1988 until 1999, he worked in several financial capacities at Kraft Foods Corporation. He also worked for Price Waterhouse for five years as a Senior Staff Accountant. He holds the designation of Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Mr. Blade received his MBA from the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management and his B.S. in Accounting from Butler University.
