Jeff Shaara is an American historical novelist. Raised in Tallahassee, Florida, he graduated from Florida State University in 1974 with a degree in criminology. The son of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Shaara (“The Killer Angels” (1974)), Jeff continued his father’s legacy by writing historical fiction, primarily about the American Civil War, World War II, and the American Revolution.
His first novel, “Gods and Generals” (1996), a prequel to his father’s work, was a New York Times bestseller and adapted into a 2003 film. Other notable works include “The Last Full Measure” (1998), “The Rising Tide” (2006), and “The Fateful Lightning” (2015). Shaara’s meticulously researched novels, blending historical accuracy with vivid storytelling, have earned him the W.Y.
