Tesori acknowledges that the popularity of "Fun Home," the musical she co-created with Lisa Kron based on Alison Bechdel's comic book about coming out as a lesbian at a young age, has shocked her. The musical has transferred to Broadway after a highly praised, sold-out run off Broadway (and a Pulitzer nomination).
“I'm always shocked when things go well,” Tesori adds. “I don't mean it as a joke; I've learnt to let go of the end as much as possible and focus on producing work, and making it better. That said, the reaction to 'Fun Home' has been a mix of enormous relief and unrestrained joy.”
