On February 13, 1956, Jeremiah Wilson "Jay" Nixon was born. He was the 55th Governor of Missouri from 2009 to 2017, and is an American politician and lawyer. He was first elected to the governorship in 2008 and reelected in 2012. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
Prior to becoming Governor of Missouri, he served as the state's Attorney General for 40 years, from 1993 to 2009. He joined the Dowd Bennett law firm in St. Louis after leaving public service. He will be the last Democrat to serve as Governor of Missouri until 2021.
