Jay Graber is an American software engineer and the CEO of Bluesky, a decentralized social platform born as an alternative to X, formerly known as Twitter. Graber hails from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is the daughter of a Chinese immigrant and Swiss mathematics teacher. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Science, Technology, and Society.
Her career began in 2015 as a software engineer at SkuChain in California, where she soldered bitcoin mining equipment. In 2016, she joined Zcash, a privacy-focused cryptocurrency, as a junior developer and then founded Happening, Inc., an event planning website. She would become Bluesky’s first CEO.
