Jason Hooten is the head coach of the Sam Houston State University men's basketball team. He was born on April 20, 1969. Jason Hooten had been an assistant coach with the Bearkats for the past six years before being named the new head men's basketball coach on April 2, 2010. Hooten has guided the Bearkats to a 127-59 record, four seasons with 20 or more victories, Southland Conference regular-season and tournament titles, and an NCAA tournament berth in 2010. Sam Houston's 25-8 record in 2009-10 was the greatest win total for a Bearkat team in the school's 23 years in NCAA Division I.
