Jason Grumet Biography

Jason Grumet, the Bipartisan Policy Center's founder and president, is recognized on all sides of the aisle for his unique approach to increasing government performance and affecting public policy. BPC has spent the last decade combining the finest ideas from both parties in order to improve health, security, and opportunity for all Americans. Under Grumet's leadership, BPC has used the power of cooperation to fight for moral and politically feasible policy solutions to our country's key policy issues. During the 114th Congress, BPC successfully influenced legislation to promote the development of life-saving medical therapies, eliminate arbitrary hurdles to oil exportation, modernize dangerous chemical laws, strengthen Medicare, and prolong the Children's Health Insurance Program. Grumet established and led the National Commission on Energy Policy in 2001, which generated a comprehensive set of policy proposals, many of which were adopted into the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Grumet was the executive director of the Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management, where he strengthened the organization's technical and advocacy skills as well as its participation in national policy talks. Grumet contributes opinions and editorials to national newspapers on a regular basis, and he appears in a variety of television appearances on major cable news networks. He routinely speaks at national gatherings, testifies before Congress, and is sought after by legislators and business executives. Grumet's debut book, City of Rivals: Restoring America's Glorious Mess, was published in September 2014. Grumet holds a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University and a Juris Doctorate from Harvard University. He and his wife and three children live in Bethesda, Maryland.
