Jamie Vollmer Biography

Jamie Vollmer is the president of Vollmer, Inc., a public education advocacy business dedicated to increasing student achievement via increased public support for America's schools. Jamie is the bestselling author of Schools Can't Do It Alone, which was named one of the "top 10 books of the year" by the American School Board Journal. He was designated Friend of Texas Public Schools and Friend of Ohio Public Education in 2012. He received the National School Public Relations Association's Learning and Liberty award in 2010 for his work to create trust and support for public schools. Mr. Vollmer, who has a background in law and industry, began his career in education in 1988 as a founding member of the Iowa Business Roundtable. He was the president of the Great Midwestern Ice Cream Company at the time, which People magazine voted the "Best Ice Cream in America!" He changed jobs in 1990 to become the Roundtable's Executive Director. He was formerly a severe critic, but he is now an outspoken supporter of America's public schools. Over the last two decades, he has collaborated with educators, parents, and community leaders to eliminate barriers to student success.
