Jamie Paik is a renowned Canadian engineer and roboticist. She is a full professor of mechanical engineering at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland, where she founded and directs the Reconfigurable Robotics Lab (RRL). Paik earned her B.A.Sc. in Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Design Engineering from the University of British Columbia, followed by a Ph.D.
from Seoul National University. Her groundbreaking work focuses on soft robotics, modular robotics, origami-inspired robots, shape-changing metamaterials, reconfigurable structures, and novel actuators that enable adaptable, interactive systems for applications in medicine, wearables, haptics, and beyond. A TED speaker and globally recognized innovator, she has pioneered robots that "push physical limits" through unique fabrication and actuation.
