Jamie P. Merisotis is the president and CEO of the Lumina Organization, the nation's biggest private foundation dedicated completely to increasing college enrollment and graduation rates. Lumina's purpose of improving college access and achievement, particularly among low-income, minority, and other historically underrepresented communities, is pursued through a deliberate, outcomes-based strategy under his direction.
Merisotis developed and served as president of the Institute for Higher Education Policy for 15 years until joining Lumina in 2008. He was formerly the executive director of the National Committee on Responsibilities for Financing Postsecondary Education, a bipartisan commission formed by President Barack Obama and legislative leaders.
