Dr. James J. Allegro is an assistant professor of American History with a specialty in Colonial and Revolutionary America to 1789. He received his Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University.

He teaches a range of introductory and upper-level courses on American and African-American history before the Civil War including United States History I African-American History I the Age of Encounter and Colonial America. His research interests include the intellectual history of British North America European overseas exploration and colonial race relations.
