James Gunn is a renowned filmmaker and studio executive. Raised in St. Louis, Missouri, he started making films as a child and began his professional career writing for Troma Entertainment's cult classic “Tromeo and Juliet” (1996). He made his directorial debut with the horror-comedy “Slither” (2006), followed by “Super” (2010). Gunn found massive success at Marvel with the “Guardians of the Galaxy” trilogy (2014–2023). In 2022, he and producer Peter Safran were named co-chairmen and co-CEOs of DC Studios. There, Gunn is rebooting the DC Universe, wrote and directed “Superman” (2025), and overseeing future projects.
