James Brolin won a supporting actor Emmy as young Dr. Steven Kiley opposite Robert Young's veteran doctor on “Marcus Welby M.D.” in 1970. But since 1998 he’s been known for a different role: as the husband of legendary singer actress director producer and composer Barbra Streisand.
In 2009 he told The Times that he asked Streisand his third wife for advice when deciding on a project: “I always look at things and say 'Will Barbra be proud?' “ Brolin never had to struggle to get his big break as an actor; at 18 he was stopped on the street by someone and asked if he would like to do a commercial.
