Jae Rhim Lee is a visual artist who also enjoys mushrooms. She designed systems that altered essential human activities in her early work as a Ph.D. student at MIT, such as sleeping (see out her it-just-might-work vertical bed from 2004), peeing, and eating (and the relationship between the two).
Now she's working on a new strategy for the ultimate stage of the human life cycle: decay. Her Infinity Burial Project looks at the decisions we make after we die, and how those decisions represent our denial or acceptance of death's physical consequences.
