Jackie was born on June 11th, 1939, in Dumbarton, Scotland, into a driving family. She has been engaged with vehicles since she was a child. His father's business sold Jaguars, and his older brother Jimmy was a brilliant driver who raced for Jaguar in 1955. After an accident that year, Jimmy decided to stop racing because he knew his mother didn't approve of him racing. Jackie, whose dyslexia was not identified until much later, left school with a sigh of relief, according to his own admission. He discovered his personal voice in sport, first as an Olympic-class shooter, then in motor racing, where he originally participated as 'A.N. Other' to avoid bothering his mother.
