Mr. Griswell had a long career with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, most notably as president and chief executive officer of MetLife Marketing Corporation, prior to joining the Principal Financial Group. Mr. Griswell has also held key leadership positions in the insurance industry, including chairman of LIMRA International during a period of international expansion, chairman of the Life Underwriter Council during a period of significant regulatory interest in market practices issues, and chairman of the American Council of Life Insurers during a period of regulatory and market practices threats. He has also talked about regulatory issues in the United States and globally on several occasions.
