Isha Datar is a pioneering biotechnologist and executive director of New Harvest, a nonprofit advancing cellular agriculture, focusing on the production of animal products like meat, milk, and eggs from cell cultures rather than livestock. Raised in Edmonton, Alberta, she developed an interest in sustainability after a childhood visit to a landfill. Datar earned a B.S.
in cell and molecular biology from the University of Alberta and an M.Biotech from the University of Toronto. In 2010, she published a seminal paper on cultured meat in Innovative Food Science and Emerging Technologies. She co-founded Perfect Day Foods andThe EVERY Company in 2014, donating her equity to fund New Harvest’s research.
