Irene Spencer Biography

Since June 2006, Irene B. Rosenfeld has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kraft Foods Inc. and its segment, Kraft Food Ingredients Corp. Dr. Rosenfeld was previously Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Frito-Lay North America, a PepsiCo Inc. division, from September 2004 until June 2006. Prior to joining Frito-Lay, Dr. Rosenfeld worked for Kraft Foods Inc. for 22 years, most recently as President of Kraft Foods' North American Businesses until July 2003. She was Frito-Head Lays of US and Canadian Operations. From 1981 through 2003, Ms. Rosenfeld worked at Kraft Foods and its predecessor, General Foods Corporation, in different positions. Between 1991 and 1996, Dr. Rosenfeld worked for Kraft as an Executive Vice President and General Manager in the Beverage and Desserts & Snacks divisions. She was named President of Kraft Canada, Inc. in 1996. From May 2000 until September 2002, she was Group Vice President of Kraft Foods and President of Operations, Technology, Procurement, R&D, and Information Systems. In 1979, she started her work in New York City with Dancer Fitzgerald Sample Advertising (now Saatchi and Saatchi). She works at Kraft Food Ingredients Corp. as a Director. Since June 2006, she has been on the board of directors of Kraft Foods Inc. She worked with Autonation Inc. and Frito-Lay North America as a director. Dr. Rosenfeld was inducted into the Young Women's Christian Association's (YWCA) Academy of Women Achievers. She was the Chair of the Grocery Manufacturers of America's Industry Affairs Council and the Food and Consumer Products Manufacturers of Canada's Board of Directors. Dr. Rosenfeld is a member of the Cornell University Board of Trustees. She was a member of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company's board of directors. Dr. Rosenfeld graduated from Cornell University with a Ph.D. in Marketing and Statistics in 1980, an MS in Business in 1977, and a BA in Psychology in 1975.
