Ina Jaffe Biography

Ina Jaffe is a national desk journalist stationed at NPR West in Culver City, California. Jaffe has covered almost all of the big news events, elections, and natural catastrophes in California and the West. Currently, she tackles aging problems such as money and work life, healthcare, relationships, and the country's larger demographic reality. She also covers regional and national politics, and she participated in election coverage in 2008, 2010, and 2012. Jaffe's reports have received critical acclaim in addition to engaging and enlightening listeners. Her 2012 investigation exposing how the West Los Angeles VA profited millions from renting land while neglecting plans to shelter homeless veterans earned her a Gracie Honor from the Alliance for Women in Media and a Society of Professional Journalists award. The West Los Angeles VA started construction on supportive housing for homeless vets a few months after the story aired. Jaffe's 2011 series on growing violence in California State Psychiatric Hospitals received a Gracie Award, as well as honors from the Investigative Reporters and Editors and the American Bar Association.
