Ted Turner is a media magnate and philanthropist from the United States. He is most known for co-founding CNN and Turner Classic Movies, as well as a $1 billion donation to the United Nations. Turner was vice chairman of Time Warner Inc. from October 1996 until October 1997, after Time Warner Inc. and Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. merged.
When AOL Time Warner and Time Warner merged in 2001, he became vice-chairman of the combined company, a position he has since resigned from.
