Mr. Murray is CEI's Vice President of Strategy. He is the best-selling author of The Really Inconvenient Truths and Stealing You Blind: How Government Fat Cats Are Making Money Off of You. In addition, he is an expert in energy, environment, finance, trade, and science and technology policy. He is also an authority on the function of government, the EU, and the United Kingdom, as well as the importance of liberty in political philosophy. His CEI pieces have appeared in The New York Post, Investors Business Daily, the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Examiner, and a variety of other media. Among other television appearances, he has been on Fox News, CNN Headline News, the BBC, and Al-Jazeera. He has also testified before the United States Senate. Mr. Murray, a seasoned blogger, writes to National Review Online's Corner and Planet Gore blogs, as well as CEI's own OpenMarket. He also contributes to the Washington Examiner's Opinion Zone website on a regular basis. Mr. Murray formerly worked as a Senior Analyst and later as Director of Research at the Statistical Assessment Service, a neutral organization that investigated how scientific and statistical information was exploited or misapplied by the media and policymakers. Mr. Murray moved to the United States in 1997 after working at the British Department of Transport, where he advised Ministers on railroad privatization, the role of private financing in infrastructure investment, and the importance of transportation in London's economic growth. Mr. Murray is also a Visiting Fellow at the Adam Smith Institute, a British think tank. Mr. Murray has a BA and MA from Oxford, an MBA from the University of London, and a Diploma from the Imperial College of Science, Technology, and Medicine.
