Humaira Bachal Biography

Humaira Bachal is a 25-years old resident of low-income settlement in Karachi named Muwach Goth. She is striving to eradicate illiteracy by running a school in the community. The Dream Foundation which began as a tuition center for a few students in 2003 is now a formal school.
They are currently enrolling 1200 students where children pay a rupee a day to acquire the priceless gift of education. Students from Nursery level up to Grade 12th attend school in the modest rented building in three different shifts from morning til evening while separate adult literacy classes for men and women are conducted at night by Humaira and her team of young volunteers.
Humaira believes that to increase the thirst of education in Mowach Goth mother of the children need to be persuaded and motivated. According to her awareness does not necessarily come with education only so she carries out talks and workshops with the community's women on Gender Equality Civic and Social responsibility Human Rights (Specially Women Rights) Domestic Violance Sexual Reproductive and HIV/AIDs health and creating employment opportunities.
