He is the oldest of three children followed by brother John (Jack) Christopher Dancy co-director of the travel company Trufflepig Travel and sister Katharine Sarah Dancy. From the age of five to the age of ten Hugh Dancy was educated at Edenhurst Preparatory School in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
