How To Dress Well is the stage name of songwriter and producer Tom Krell. His career began in 2009 when upon moving from Brooklyn to Berlin he posted a string of free EPs in anonymity on his blog. Combining a gorgeous falsetto with fractured R&B-influenced beats an instinctive ear for devastating melody and sound collage composition Krell’s debut album Love Remains plucked from those early efforts and offered a window into a startlingly artistic imagination. With 2012’s stunning follow up Total Loss many of the best elements from the debut remained — including that voice — but the production tightened and soared. An overarching theme of loss solitude and love runs throughout lending a universality to the whole work and creating a palpable sense of catharsis. In 2014 Krell released the acclaimed “What Is This Heart?”
