Hector Ruiz is chairman of GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ board of directors. He will guide high level government and other strategic relations.Most recently Hector served as executive chairman of Advanced Micro Devices Inc. and chairman of the company’s board of directors. At AMD Hector drove the company’s asset smart strategy and the foundation of GLOBALFOUNDRIES to completion.
He joined AMD in January 2000 as president and chief operating officer and was named chief executive officer in April 2002. He was appointed as chairman of the board in April 2004 and was named executive chairman in June 2008.Previously Hector completed a 22-year career with Motorola where he served as president of the firm’s Semiconductor Products Sector.
