Hawk Nelson Biography

Hawk Nelson is a Christian rock and pop-punk band from Peterborough, Ontario, that started in the year 2000. They settled on Hawk Nelson after a few name changes (they were formerly known as SWISH and Reason Being). They continued to play and tour independently in Ontario, Canada, before signing with Tooth & Nail Records, primarily thanks to Trevor McNevan, lead vocalist of fellow Tooth & Nail bands Thousand Foot Krutch and FM Static. The band was discovered by McNevan, who is also from Peterborough, Ontario. Hawk Nelson released their debut studio album Letters to the President in July 2004. Hawk Nelson's current lineup is Daniel Biro (bass guitar, backing vocals), Jonathan Steingard (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards, piano, synths), Micah Kuiper (lead guitar, backing vocals), and David Niacaris (drums, keyboards, piano, synthesizers) (drums). Hawk Nelson has been nominated for a Grammy Award and has garnered several Dove Award nominations from the Gospel Music Association. Hawk Nelson, who played The Who in an episode of the NBC miniseries American Dreams, released their eighth studio album, Miracles, in April of 2018. He Still Does was featured on Miracles (Miracles).
