Hawk Nelson is a Christian rock and pop-punk band from Peterborough, Ontario, that started in the year 2000. They settled on Hawk Nelson after a few name changes (they were formerly known as SWISH and Reason Being).
They continued to play and tour independently in Ontario, Canada, before signing with Tooth & Nail Records, primarily thanks to Trevor McNevan, lead vocalist of fellow Tooth & Nail bands Thousand Foot Krutch and FM Static. The band was discovered by McNevan, who is also from Peterborough, Ontario.
