Hari Nair Biography

Hari was part of the founding team that created his firm's Asia presence in 2006, working under the thought leadership of Clayton Christensen, the world's most prominent innovation guru. Hari is a thought leader and specialist in the use of disruptive innovation in emerging countries and has advised numerous Fortune 500 firms as well as several Asian organizations on the development and incubation of new growth businesses, including P&G, Unilever, and Medtronic, Reliance, and Godrej. Hari has spent nearly half of his 20-year professional career living and working in emerging markets, launching new businesses and products in China and India, which has helped him develop a deep on-the-ground understanding of the opportunities these markets offer, particularly the millions of unfilled 'jobs.' Hari oversaw the project, which assisted in the conception and development of ChotuKool, Godrej Industries' unique refrigerator. Hari managed the incubation of many innovative enterprises aimed at non-consumers and India's burgeoning middle class from 2008 to 2010, as part of the Innosight Ventures leadership team. Village Laundry Business, a franchised laundry service, was recently listed as one of India's most creative startups after raising Series A funding. Hari spent 14 years with Procter & Gamble's Global Research and Development department before joining Innosight. Hari oversaw various product and packaging developments, as well as the introduction of several new brands and markets, including a four-year stint in Beijing, China, where he assisted in scaling up P&G's activities in Asia's low-income markets. Hari earned his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he graduated with honours; he also holds eight patents as an inventor or co-inventor.
