Steve Carlson, his brother Jeff Carlson, and Dave Hanson were professional hockey players who featured as enforcers in Paul Newman's 1977 film Slap Shot. Slap Shot was a box office smash, but it irritated young men during their sporting careers. According to Steve, the movie was all everybody wanted to speak about.
Nobody asked me about the game, how I played it, what I did, or why I did it. The Hanson Brothers were all that was on everyone's mind. It did become a touch nauseating at times. Remember, I wasn't an actress; I was a hockey player.
